Gandhi once said, “In a gentle way, you can shake the word.” Likewise, being part of ITE is a stepping stone to strongly impact the world through civil engineering. This year, I have the opportunity to make a difference that can influence the daily life of the community with the assistance of ITE members. As the chapter’s “money keeper”, I will ensure that I can maximize our budget to its fullest potential, and reimburse Chapter related expenses in a timely manner. More importantly, I believe my strong connection with a great leadership team will help keep our chapter at the top among the others.

Joshua Sy

Josh
Graduating with two Bachelors in Electrical Engineering & Civil Engineering, General Option in Spring 2016
Second year as an ITE member
Interested in Intelligent Transportation Systems

I’ve always wondered how cars can travel so fast on a highway without crashing into one another since I was a boy.  Then I experienced my first accident in a car.  Ever since then, I’ve always contemplated a way to make the road and all other forms of transportation safer.  I believe that the way to do this is through ITS, and that is why I’m so interested in it!  As webmaster, I’m responsible to keep you informed about what’s happening in this amazing club through anything that you check often, ranging from those little computers that you use to call people to those big cell phones you edit CAD files with.  If you want to talk to me about anything computer related, or just want to talk, feel free to shoot me an email!

I had a great time at the last Western District ITE Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Brandon and I started off in last place during the last day of The MiteY Race but we finished strong in 3rd place. Now to kick off this year, I will be organizing social activities and fundraising for ITE. Events like these are a great way to be more familiar with your officers and other members of the club. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions regarding ITE activities or fundraising events.

I am in charge of organizing our attendance to this year’s conference, which will be in South Dakota! I recently attended my first conference this past summer and it was such a great experience that I hope to get more people involved and going next year.  It is a great way to network, learn great things about transportation, and overall have a great time with your peers.  I look forward to the coming year getting to meet new members and being involved in the events to come. For any questions or interests or anything else, please contact me!
