Please join us for our Second General Meeting of the spring quarter this Thursday, April 18 during U-hour 12-1 PM, in the Transportation Lab (17-2646). We will be hosting Monica M. Suter as our guest speaker. She is pleased to return to Cal Poly Pomona to present on Transportation Careers. She is an International Director for ITE and a Past Western District President. She will also provide information about sample projects as well and some tips for interviewing and what employers look for. As usual, lunch will be provided. We look forward to having you there!
Monica Suter is an ITE International Director for the Western District. She previously served as District President (2008–2009) and promoted the profession with her “Getting to ‘Yes’ With the Public & Elected Officials” presentation. She has managed traffic engineering and design teams for the City of Santa Ana, California, USA, with 25 years of private and public sector experience.
Ms. Suter joined ITE as a Michigan State University student. Monica regularly presents career information to student chapters and has been California State University Fullerton’s Student Chapter’s Professional Advisor since inception (2012). Ms. Suter’s presented/published several International/District ITE papers, and served as a co‐instructor for ITS Tech Transfer/UC Berkeley’s MUTCD course. She is also an APWA Associate Member of the National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (NCUTCD) and was an ITE Associate Member in 2011.
Ms. Suter also served as President of the ITE Southern California section (2002–2003) and President of the Orange County Traffic Engineering Council (1997–2002). Under her leadership, the Southern California section received both the District and International Best section Awards. She also received her section’s Young Transportation Engineer Award in 2001 and was ITE’s Public Agency Council Vice Chair (2006–2009).
