Recap – ITE’s Third General Meeting

ITE Cal Poly Pomona held its 3rd General Meeting on Thursday, October 31. The guest speaker for the meeting was Vanessa Muñoz, P.E., a Deputy Director of Engineering at Willdan, with experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering. Ms. Muñoz talked to members about a project she is currently working on for the City of Rolling Hills Estates (as the Project Manager and Traffic Engineer), which involved widening the roadway to allow for a Class 2 Bike Path, as well as improvements within the area. Ms. Muñoz also talked about the difficulties of a project, which could take a year to obtain an approval, among other issues such as finances and communication with designers and contractors. Before concluding her presentation, Ms. Muñoz gave advice and tips to members regarding time management and effectiveness as a Project Manager.

ITE’s Third General Meeting w/ Guest Speaker Vanessa Muñoz

Vanessa MunozITE’s third meeting is this Thursday, Oct 31st during U-hour (12-1PM), in the Transpo Lab (17-2646). We will be hosting Vanessa Muñoz as our guest speaker. She will be presenting on the City of Rolling Hills Estates – Palos Verdes Drive North Bike Lane Project. Free lunch will be provided on a first-come first-serve basis. Ms. Vanessa Muñoz is a Deputy Director of Engineering at Willdan with 15 years of experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering. Her area of expertise includes traffic impact studies, engineering and traffic surveys, design and operations, municipal engineering, and operational analyses. She has designed over 300 signalized intersections for client cities, outside agencies, and Caltrans. Ms. Muñoz is an accomplished engineer for multi-discipline and multi-agency traffic and transportation projects and has supervised the completion of more than 1,000 projects, for a variety of large- to small-scale projects. She understands the importance of meeting schedules and developing the most cost-efficient project in order to meet budgetary constraints. She is responsible for analysis, coordination, and preparation of plans, specifications, and estimates for traffic signals, signing, striping, traffic control, flashing beacons, street lighting, interconnect, parking lots, street widening and resurfacing projects.

ITE’s 6th Meeting w/ Guest Speaker Vanessa Munoz

Vanessa Munoz on Traffic Engineering

WilldanMs. Vanessa Muñoz PE, TE, PTOE – Willdan, Deputy Director of Engineering

Ms. Munoz graduated from Cal Poly in 1997 with a BS in Civil Engineering.  Ms. Munoz is a Deputy Director of Engineering at Willdan with 14 years of experience in transportation planning and traffic engineering.  Ms. Muñoz duties include the supervision of engineers and technicians providing traffic engineering design and construction services to cities, counties and transportation agencies throughout California.  Ms. Munoz areas of expertise include the preparation of  plans specification and estimates for street widening, street resurfacings, storm drains, traffic signals, street lighting, traffic control, signing and striping projects as well as providing municipal engineering and traffic analysis and operations services.  To date Ms. Munoz has designed over 300 traffic signals and has supervised the completion of over 1000 projects ranging from larger to smaller scale projects.  Ms. Munoz serves as the city traffic engineer for the City of Rolling Hills, prior to joining the Willdan team Ms. Munoz worked for 2 years as an assistant engineering at KOA Corporation.
